Torridge and West Network Summary

Thanks to Tavistock & District Outdoor Education Forum and Space Youth Services for attending. 

We discussed:

• £600 network funding available for reducing costs, sharing good practices, and supporting staff and trustees

• Would Tavistock Youth Club be better chairing this meeting independently?

• Operational challenges such as a succession plan for volunteers to enable new people to be brought in and older volunteers to retire.

• The Outdoor Education Fund has a good cohort of volunteers coming through, many of whom were former youth members.

• Planning difficulties for all local groups who work with county council support or delivery due to ongoing uncertainty and budget cuts.

We resolved to:

• Look at a simplified introductory offer that contains everything groups may need to start up or refresh their practice.

• Investigate ways to increase network attendance

After positive feedback from a number of organisations we will discuss safeguarding trends, challenges and questions at all our future network meetings.
